Michael Studdert-Kennedy (MSK), Haskins Laboratories President Emeritus passed away on January 9 of this year. MSK is well known for his contributions to studies of speech perception, the motor theory of speech perception, and the evolution of language, among other areas. He was a Professor Emeritus of Psychology at the University of Connecticut and a Professor Emeritus of Linguistics at Yale University. He was a generous mentor, a dedicated scientist and a role model who leaves a legacy of admiration and appreciation.
Haskins is organizing a second memorial on June 24 (the day before the upcoming ASA meeting). The memorial will take place at Boston University (Sargent College, 635 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, MA 02215; 1st floor, Rm-101) from from 3-6 p.m. Remembrances will take place from 3-4:30 p.m. including open-mic memories from guests.
